Nothing could have prepared singer Natalie Di Luccio for the life-changing experience she encountered after a simple post on YouTube. One post, and everything changed for this young Canadian. One minute she was an aspiring Canadian singer, the next a Bollywood superstar. Natalie Di Luccio was born and raised in Toronto and started taking singing lessons at the young age of five.
Music classes, auditions, rehearsals, piano/dance lessons, meetings with other musicians, she did it all. "I would do anything I can to sing", says Natalie. Her entire life, Natalie wanted to be an Italian classical singer. Her passion for music would continue into her adult years. After graduating high school, Natalie went on to study Western Classical Voice at McGill University. "A career in music was my only option, I really had no backup plan", says Natalie.
So how did a YouTube post quickly change Natalie's life from music student to recording artist? She recorded herself singing along to a popular Hindi song, "Tu Jaane Na". She was familiar with the song and fell in love with it and thought that it would suit her voice and musical style. After convincing from friends, Natalie posted the video of her singing the song. Her intention was to simply have her friends see it and nothing more. Instead, her YouTube posting went from zero to thousands of views in a matter of a few days. Before she new it, Natalie was gaining popularity and positive reaction from people in India- far from her Canadian upbringing. "I was just posting it for my friends. I still don't actually believe it", says Natalie.
